Ask someone to take your measurements by STRICTLY following our instructions and the pictures. It's easy and will take about 10 minutes.
To measure yourself please don't use any other methods of measurement than the ones detailed below. We advise you to take the measurements directly on your body (wearing nothing else than a loose light clothing). Please be especially careful of the instructions and take the measurements exactly as described in the explanations without trying to modify them by yourself. Our tailors add slack as necessary, depending on type and design of clothing (anywhere from 0 to 25-30 cm).
To help with this very important measurement guidelines, we will ask you to tie a string or ribbon around your mid-section, specifically your stomach area, so that this string is in line with your navel (belly button). Please take care that this string or ribbon does not ride down or shift in any other way, as we will need to start and stop measurement on this string/ribbon on several important body measurements. This is very important so that the garment will fit you exactly. Please take a moment and place this string or ribbon as described.
Person's height: cm |
Chest circumference (OH): cm Measure around the chest where it is largest, usually right across the nipples. Breathe normally. Additional Notes: |
Stomach circumference: cm Measure around the stomach, in line with the navel (belly button). Please be careful that the measuring tape does not shift down to where you would wear your pants. It must stay in line with the navel. Now place your string or ribbon in your mid-section, and this will represent your Stomach circumference, going forward. We will refer to this string or ribbon below. See model. Additional Notes: |
Waist Circumference (OPk): cm Measure around the waist, at the point where you want your trousers to rest. Breathe normally. This measurement will determine the top of the pants, and is unique to you and your body type. The difference between this measurement and your stomach circumference (circumference around your navel, taken earlier) can be anywhere between 0 to 15 cm, on occasion even more. Additional Notes: |
Buttocks (OS): cm Measure around the largest point of the buttocks. Please make sure your tape measure is snug, but not tight for this measurement. Additional Notes: |
Neck circumference (OK): cm Measure around the base of the neck. The tape shouldn't feel tight around your neck. This measurement is used for correctly sizing your shirt collar. Additional Notes: |
Neck circumference - 2nd measurement (OK2): cm Measure around the mid-part of the neck (the thinnest), immediately under the Adam's apple. This measurement is important for any clothing with a high collar, turtleneck etc. Additional Notes: |
Shoulder Pad (R): cm Measure the shoulder pad from the bottom of the neck to the end of the shoulder where the sleeves fall away from the shoulder. When measuring, place the tape measure over the thumb, with the thumb placed at the end of your shoulder; this measurement technique is important in case padding is needed. In this example, the measurement on the model is 15 cm. It is very important to place the beginning of the tape measure at the base of the neck. Additional Notes: |
Shoulder including sleeve measurement (DRR): cm We are continuing with the previous measurement (Shoulder Pad – DRR measurement), by starting at the base of the neck continuing past where the sleeve falls away at the end of the shoulder (the thumb should still be there) and down the upper arm, around the elbow (while the elbow is bent), down the forearm to your wrist bone, and finally ending about 4cm past the wrist bone (this is where the sleeve would end). Usually sleeve ends about 3-5 cm past the wrist. Additional Notes: |
Back Length (DZ): cm Measure from bottom of the neck to waist (this is the Stomach Circumference that runs in line with navel). Sometimes it is helpful to tie a string around your mid-section representing the Stomach Circumference, so that you know where to end the measurement tape when taking this Back Length measurement. See the model shown on photo. Additional Notes: |
Shoulder width (ŠZ): cm Measure between the outermost edges of the shoulders. Good reference points for the start and end are the seams on the edge of the shoulders. Measure across, the widest part of the back which is slightly curved. Additional Notes: |
Side Outseam (BDKa): cm You will be referencing your string/ribbon around your waist, that signifies your Stomach Circumference that runs in line with navel. Start your measuring tape on your side, at this string. Run the measuring tape down to the floor. Make sure the tape is tight, that you are standing straight, and then measure. No shoes please! This measurement is always important, for construction of the garment. Additional Notes: |
Trouser Length (BDKs): cm Measure down the outside of the leg. Start at the desired waist level and measure down to where you want the trousers to end. Note: on occasion it is possible that this Trouser Length measurement is same or very close to the previous Side Outseam measurement, in that case, the desired garment will have a high waist, which some find preferable. Additional Notes: |
Thigh Circumference (OS): cm Measure around your thigh at its widest point. This is usually about 2 – 10cm below your crotch. Additional Notes: |
Trouser Inseam (DKR): cm Measure from the lowest part of your crotch area to the floor. Make sure the tape is tight along the inside of your leg, that you are standing straight, and then measure. No shoes please! It is very important that this measurement is correct. Additional Notes: |
Knee Width (OPK): cm Measure around your knee, just below the knee cap, where it is the smallest knee circumference. Additional Notes: |
Calf Width (OL): cm Measure the circumference around your calf at its widest point. Additional Notes: |
Ankle circumference (OKT): cm This measurement is taken at the bottom of the leg, at the ankle, at the narrowest area. Additional Notes: |
Length Shoulder to Navel (DPDa): cm Measure from base of neck/beginning of shoulder area to navel. If you have a string/ribbon tied around you representing the stomach circumference, then you measure to the front of this string which is your navel or belly button. Additional Notes: |
Length Shoulder to Waist front (DPDr): cm Measure from base of neck/beginning of shoulder area to where you would normally wear your belt (your trouser waist). If there is a larger belly, then this measurement would be larger than your previous Length Shoulder to Navel measurement. Additional Notes: |
Bicep (OPŽ): cm Measure around the widest part of the bicep. Additional Notes: |
Forearm (OPŘ): cm Measure around the widest part of the forearm. Additional Notes: |
Wrist (OZP): cm Measure around the wrist directly below the wrist joint, which should have the narrowest wrist circumference. Additional Notes: |
Depth of Buttocks to Stomach circumference (HSa): cm Please sit on a hard surface and measure on the side from where the string/ribbon that represents your stomach circumference to the top of the hard surface, see model in photo. Additional Notes: |
Depth of Buttocks to Waist circumference (HSk): cm Please sit on a hard surface and measure on the side from where you would wear your belt (waist line) to the top of the hard surface, see model in photo. Additional Notes: |
Additional Notes: |

Tracing your foot (OCH) Stand on barefoot, with your weight on the foot being traced, on a piece of paper, and on a hard smooth surface. Be sure that your toes are somewhat spread out, like they would extend when you take a step. Be careful while tracing not to move your foot. Using a pencil and holding it vertically to the paper, trace your foot. The pencil line should be very close to your foot. Your outline should have one solid line, be sure to include any small bumps; for example on the back of your heel, if you have any. Remember to keep you pencil vertically and close to your foot, at all times, and just trace. When done, look at your outline and see if one foot is bigger than the other, be certain that in reality it is, as that is how the shoes will be made. Please label each foot with “L” for left and “R” for right foot. Please send your foot outlines, on the your original paper, to this address: Textiler, Záhumenní 214, 708 00 Ostrava Poruba.
